Koncent Announce Patent for 4-Port Circulator

Koncent Communication Inc., a PHOTOP company and leading fiber optical component manufacturer, today announced that it has been issued a US patent with PUB. APP. NO 20020186914 for Four-port bidirectional circulator. The patent generally applies to optical communication systems. It's a significant patent for Koncent.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved design and configuration for manufacturing a compact and economic fiber optical circulator to achieve low cross talk, high extinction ratio and high isolation, while maintaining Koncent's competitive price.
The application for optical circulator is with optical fiber gratings to build wavelength division multiplexers (WDMs), Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers (OADMs) for WDM transport systems.
